The rate of kidney stones is increasing globally. With chronic kidney disease, kidney stones are a common complication.  The problem of urinary stones or calculi is a very ancient one and many remedies have been employed during the ages these stones are found in all parts of the urinary tract, the kidney, the ureters and the urinary bladder and may vary considerably in size.

The type of stone (such as struvite [magnesium ammonium phosphate]), cystine, calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, and uric acid stones, will primarily determine how to prevent recurrence.   1. Bergenia ligulata : Also known as Pashanbhedain Indian system of medicine. Etymologically, the name Pashanbhed means that which breaks or destroys stones. Bergenia ligulata is perennial herb that grows wild in stones and rocks. This plant has been recognized for dissolving kidney stone.  Bergenia ligulata is used for kidney and bladder stones, urinary problems.
  2. Varuna  (Crataeva Nurvala) : One of the greatest long acting herbs is crataeva nurvala (ability to break up stones).   According to scientific studies, the varuna component lupeol inhibits the activity of the enzyme glycolate oxidase, which lowers the body's generation of oxalates, which when combined with calcium can produce kidney stones. Varuna is also used as a natural diuretic since it may prevent kidney stone development.
  3. Kulthi (Dolichos bifforus) : In addition to proteins and calories, kulthi contains a high amount of antioxidant and radical scavenging action, which gives it the ability to treat kidney stones. Phytic acid, fibre, and phenolic acid are just a few of the natural bioactive elements that are high in it. These active ingredients have a large amount of potential for treating kidney stones.    The renal and antilithiatic effects of kulthi dal.   4. Gokhru (Tribulus Terrestris) :  Traditional Ayurvedic treatment frequently uses the herb gokhru   (Tribulus Terrestris). The caltrop family includes the tiny, leafy gokhru  plant.   With its anti-lithiasis properties, gokhru (Tribulus Terrestris) helps to avoid the development of stones. Gokhru powder supports the kidneys' healthy function by assisting in the excretion of extra uric acid.  In addition to being used as a purifier  gokhru  is also used to treat , urinary problems, and kidney diseases.
  5. Moolikshar (Raphanus Sativus alkaline ash) :    Cultivated radish is a historic kitchen garden vegetable that is only known in its cultivated form, despite the possibility that it was evolved from the Mediterranean yellow cress (Raphanus raphanistrum).
  6. Swarjika kshara (Sajjikhar) :  an Ayurvedic medication, is primarily advised in the treatment of stomach acid pain and stomach lump. Raphanus sativus (radish), an annual or sometimes perennial (family Brassicaceae) invades grasslands and open/disturbed areas regularly (gulma). It is an alkali made from certain plant species.
  7. The Nimbu Satva (Citrus Lemon) :  It lowers the acidity of urine and aids in kidney stone prevention. Lemons' citrate content helps the body from developing kidney stones. Larger stones break down into smaller ones that are readily passed via the urine.
